Mission Grant Applications

The Mission Mini Grant Request is a one time per year grant opportunity that programs and churches are eligible to apply for in regards to mission programming and trips.  Average award levels for grant applicants is around $500, while mission trips applicants are eligible for an average of $1,000.

The Mission Committee meets the 3rd Thursday of the month and uses the following descriptions to help determine which grants are eligible for money:

  • MISSION INTERPRETATION – The successful applicant for these funds will be laity or clergy participating in mission activities and/or educational activities.  The following types of requests will be considered: assistance for training that is needed to further the goals of the local church related to Christian Education, youth ministry workshops, other educational activities that fall within the scope of providing mission opportunities, or funding for individual or group participation in established mission programs.  It is requested that individuals apply for mission trip assistance no more than once every two years, and that efforts be made to raise the needed funds in local congregations to the greatest extent possible.  A detailed list of the costs involved must be provided with all applications for monies from this fund, as well as a disclosure of funds provided from other sources.

  • NEIGHBORHOOD DISCIPLESHIP – Successful applicants for this fund will be church groups planning events or programs that require funding at a level of $1,000 or less (a block grant application should be completed for seed money for more expensive efforts).  The events or programs should have a focus on seeking new disciples in courageous ways to strengthen multi-cultural relationships in the church, especially in urban areas.  It is expected that planned activities would be focused on strategies for growth of the congregation, and that successful applicants will place emphasis on Christian Witness and community service that is creative and future oriented.  It is also expected that a detailed budget will be submitted as part of the application, along with a plan for the program becoming self-sustaining financially over time if not a one-time event.
